Didactic base

Building of the Institute of Computer Science

Institute of Computer Science poses own building (area 900 m2), in which contains eight computer laboratories, tyfloinformatics laboratory, photography and film studio and mulimedia workroom. In the building on each floor is exhibiting permanent photo gallery.

High Power Computer Centre

In 2004, as part of the project High Power Computer Centre, the university purchased and implemented work-efficient computational cluster. Supercomputer is based on the 17 two-processors computational servers HP RX2600, equipped in two Intel Itanium2 1,3GHz processors and disk matrix HP MSA 1000 with capacity 1000GB. Cluster is used among others for creation and testing parallel software needed for advanced scientific calculations and is the base platform enables the e-learning program. Currently Institute of Computer Sciences solicits for including cluster to National Linux Cluster known as Clusterix.


Network infrastructure

Institute of computer science poses own separated computer network including all laboratories, each workrooms has the opportunity to use the following servers:
  • Windows NT + SAP Server DELL PowerEdge 4400
  • Novell NetWare Server
  • Windows NT Back Office, Server
  • Windows NT server - network server
  • Network server II Linux RedHat (user account, WWW, mail, DNS, licences)
  • Network server III Linux Slackware (aplications server, using to gathering students opinion about the teaching process).
  • Database server ORACLE (Sun Netra)
  • Network server IV Linux RedHat (Dell PowerEdge 2650 - user account, WWW, mail)


Institute of Computer Science's is multioprotocol and heterogeneous network. Unix and derivative systems are primary operational systems. TCP/IP is basic network layer protocol and Ethernet is used as a physical layer protocol.
